Propane for Campfire group chat | micro review – mac app

Category: tech reviewsjmacofearth @ 5:57 pm

App: Propane for Campfire
Cost: $20 during beta

Propane is a simple add-on app for the Mac. It makes creating and managing Campfire chat rooms a lot more efficient.

Let's see how it does what it does.

Here's the Propane main screen where you do all the work:

That's pretty much it. Propane is a slick and agile app and it takes Campfire to the next level by running it as an app rather than via the browser. I guess you could get some of this functionality using Fluid, but for $20, I think I'll buy it and run my next agile standup meeting with it. Here's my Campfire Lobby if you wanna commune sometime.

  • As Giles was saying, it's a lot more than that. It's a lifeline for my desktop => chat client. You can drag and drop tweets into the window, drag and drop files, images from the browser, and urls. It has auto complete names like IRC, which rocks, and tons of fun little toys that make it a really amazing experience as far as chat clients go.

  • Okay then, here is a screenie of the main window with a dragged Image and a dragged Tweet. I am assuming you can drag just about any media type that campfire can handle?

  • Hey, this is a cool review, but that's not all - try dragging a Twitter URL into the window, or a graphic
