The 50,000-f00t overview of SXSW Interactive 2009.

1. The Social in Social Media is about getting together. The special ingredient not available online: Trust. I can see it in your eyes, you know what I mean?

2. The luminaries of Social Media are just folks. The biggest names at SXSWi were in the same "bloggers" lounge with the rest of us. And up close and personal they didn't seem much different. In fact some were downright shy unless drawn out.

3. The business at SXSW is done in the rooms not in the panels.

4. Drinking and partying would be a waste of the electrifying energy.

5. Always accept Events on Facebook and Twitter. What do you have to lose, you can still decide not to go at any point.
