Apple Support Wins Customer Service Gold Star: Go Apple Genius!
I’ve been so happy with my service from Apple on my 2012 Macbook Pro. You may recall I’ve been trying to justify and find a way to upgrade to a newer fancier MBP (2018 MBP Fail) and I’ve not been able to justify the cost of a new machine. Of course, my machine decided it was time for some major repairs of its own. It seems the Thunderbolt ports decided to opt-out just as I wanted to migrate to one of the newer machines I brought home. The battery-life was about 2.5 hours. And one of the speakers was on the fritz. So, I gave my system to Apple on Tuesday with a promise for a 5 – 7 day turnaround and a $550+ price tag.
What I got today, Friday, three days later, was a brand new MBP. Every component was replaced. New battery, new keyboard and speakers. Heck, even the bottom of the case was replaced and now I have the little rubber feet again. This is the same experience I had a few years ago when I had the internal battery replaced. Sure, it was more expensive than being able to do it myself (which I learned the hard way, on the Retina macs you cannot repair anything yourself), but again they basically refurbished the entire machine.
So, I couldn’t justify a $3,000 replacement (13″ MBP 16/1T) that felt no faster than my 2012 machine. So I paid the price for a descent new PC and got a fully renewed 15″ MBP (16/550 mb) retina with a new battery.
All I can say is, thanks Apple. Sometimes the quality you pay for is rewarded with great customer service.
Keep the faith. Keep cool this summer. And don’t let your friends do Windows.
