Digital marketing trends have shifted since usage has gone mobile. In the last year alone, mobile phones generated more than 50% of all web traffic. As a result, the way people conduct searches has changed drastically, with voice search becoming the new mode.
As happy and hopeful as the Indeed.com commercials are, the reality is it’s a dog-eat-dog world in the job hunting process. And as an older worker (anyone over 35 years old) you’re going to quickly discover that there are 100+ things that are going to disqualify you from getting that new job.
The Starbucks cup was a paid advertisement that broke the internet today. And while the memes were funny, the sell-out was soul-crushing for us purists. Well done, Starbucks.
The Apple Store works because people love Apple products and services. The Microsoft and Amazon storefronts do not work, because no one is crazy-passionate about Windows or Alexa.
How do you know what to focus your marketing attention on if you don’t know what’s driving traffic to your site? Often we focus on “social media” or “digital marketing” as the driver of traffic and hopefully business. But do you know what’s driving your site’s traffic?
Facebook’s 25% annual growth may be a long way from slowing down. Until we severely limit Facebook’s usurious practices, or we leave for a better social media platform, we’ve got to do better. You can ask Facebook to do the right thing. Reinstate our friends on our newsfeeds.
So what this means for me, is getting calm enough, even when pressed into the deep backhand corner, to hit a solid shot back rather than swatting wildly for a winner. More often than not, I will swing for the winner, either because I am tired and want to end the point or because I “think” the winner is the best option. This is where the unforced part of the error comes in.
