The Apple Store works because people love Apple products and services. The Microsoft and Amazon storefronts do not work, because no one is crazy-passionate about Windows or Alexa.
And there are even proactive things we can do to improve our quality of life now and help ourselves down the road as well. (activities: yoga, pilates, exercise, meditation; fuel: better water, better produce, less meat; technologies: biofeedback devices, exercise tools, grounding systems, and micro-impact products)
Yep, the big daddy of streaming media (YouTube) and the big daddy of online everything (Google) have taken to the interwebs to bring you the next thing in streaming entertainment. (They are the same company, btw.) I mean, if you get everything from Google it simplifies things, doesn’t it? (Unless you think Google is evil, and they just might be.)
Drop it. Leave your phone behind. See how much more you can get out of walking through your life.
Okay, so I didn’t need a new phone. My iPhone 7+ is just fine. Fast enough. Battery life and functionality is just fine. But… of course, Apple’s new iPhones tempt all of us Apple fan boys. So I jumped in and pre-ordered an 8 in black with 64 gigs. That was my first mistake. My […]
Apple has surfed along on the laurels of the iPhone for over 10 years now. And Tim Cook has done a fine job of keeping the supply lines going. But innovation and customer-focused successes like the iPhone or the iMac are not as easily found these days. Sure, the watch is a hit, but it’s […]
Update, Moore’s Law, April 2018. Here’s my 2012 MacBook Pro stats. I’ve got a 500 mb solid state drive (SSD). And the real miss, so far, is the processor that has not done much but nudge up the speed in the last SIX YEARS. And the touchbar is a meh design feature, and I hear […]
I was/am excited by the new MacBook Pros. And while Touch Bar is a compelling innovation, it doesn’t really make the case for spending 40% more for a machine that does 5% more, performance-wise. Let’s run through the specs for a 15″ MBP that compares with mine. Here’s what I’ve got, a four-year old 15″ […]
Yes, the iPhone growth has plateaued. And Apple’s stock is falling. But here’s a little note about why you shouldn’t be panicking. The iPhone growth rates were stupidly high – since the release of the iPhone it has broken all sales records The iPhone 7 is faster, but doesn’t really offer a new “must have” […]
Okay, I splurged and got the 7 Plus with 128 gigs of ram. Woohoo! And so far… I’m thinking “no big deal.” Yes, it’s a bit faster than my original 6. Yes, it’s bigger, but I’m still not sure I like the larger form factor. (It’s harder to text with one hand.) And yes, the […]
So here’s the bottom line. If you want an Apple Watch you can probably get by with the v 1.0 for a lot less than a v 2.0. If you have an iPhone you don’t need a v 2.0.
It’s official. I have given my Apple Watch to my 13 yo daughter. She’ll get more pleasure out of it than me. And the overnight charging aspect doesn’t bother her at all. And the new Apple watches are about to start shipping and I’m considering buying one for the purpose of reviewing it, but frankly […]
