The Apple Store works because people love Apple products and services. The Microsoft and Amazon storefronts do not work, because no one is crazy-passionate about Windows or Alexa.
Apple has surfed along on the laurels of the iPhone for over 10 years now. And Tim Cook has done a fine job of keeping the supply lines going. But innovation and customer-focused successes like the iPhone or the iMac are not as easily found these days. Sure, the watch is a hit, but it’s […]
Okay, so it’s been no mystery that the Apple Watch 2.0 has been kind of a bust. All of us with Apple Watch 1.0s were looking forward to a big upgrade or some major difference and what we got was “waterproofing” and GPS built-in. Not such a huge win if the watch was already on […]
So here’s the bottom line. If you want an Apple Watch you can probably get by with the v 1.0 for a lot less than a v 2.0. If you have an iPhone you don’t need a v 2.0.
It’s official. I have given my Apple Watch to my 13 yo daughter. She’ll get more pleasure out of it than me. And the overnight charging aspect doesn’t bother her at all. And the new Apple watches are about to start shipping and I’m considering buying one for the purpose of reviewing it, but frankly […]
Apple keeps releasing new versions (finish and bands) but until the Apple Watch 2.0 comes out, we’re not seeing any evolution in form factor or performance. I want the Apple Watch to WIN. I want it to be a mass market product and find its way into hundreds of form factors.
So I’ve been a bit disillusioned of my 38mm Apple Watch lately. (I’d Sell My Apple Watch, But… I’m Still Dreaming of a Killer App) This morning after writing the scathing review of the LINK I had a slight epiphany. I loved playing with the Apple Watch faces. And while the palette is somewhat limited, you […]
Today I was putting a new watch band on my Apple Watch when I caught this view of it on my counter. It’s really not all that impressive. When my cat swiped it onto the floor I was even more amazed at how much buzz we’ve given this tiny device. Yeah. It’s a watch. Sure […]
I know what the killer app will be on my Apple Watch. Heck, Apple has gotten half-way there with the Fitness app. But it’s not quite right. Here’s what I think the killer app would be with this first rev of the Apple Watch. (I have the 38mm sport version.) The real training app for […]
UPDATE: Okay, I’m offering my Apple Watch to my kids these days. Not in anticipation of the new version that is supposed to come out in the next week, but because I’ve gone back to the $40 fuel band. Why? Charge lasts weeks It displays time and fitness goals The Nike app to track fitness […]
A fitness tracker of some sort has been part of my watch-wear for several years now. I lost my first Fitbit in an airport security check, but I loved my Nike Fuelband. There *is* motivation in knowing that your steps were being counted. I didn’t really use the “social” aspects, but I did like the […]
I have not come close to putting my Apple Watch through its paces. I’ve got a long review of the fitness and activity apps, but it’s a few more days coming. There are a few things I’d really like to share, however, that might fill in some gaps about what you’ve heard. Battery Life It’s […]
