I’m going to restrict my FB activity for the rest of August. 4 weeks. No FB at all. Starting today.
I have to get “unrestricted” first. Only 2 more hours. The countdown of shame. More like, non-English-speaking moderators confused by my words.
So, if X marks the death of social media, and FB and LI are not much better, let’s take a full break. For the next 30 days, once FB has allowed me to post again, I’m going to stop posting on social media. (Well, I’m going to keep Pinterest and Instagram.) I mean, I’m not a psychopath.
The question I have is this: where can we go online for social connection?
I don’t think we have to build or wait for a new social media platform to be launched. I am not sure Threads is going to be any better than Twitter was or Facebook is. The ZUCK team is not going to suddenly give us “social” back. I’m guessing they will start the social saturation at about 5% before clamping down harder for the monetization. I”m guessing Threads will end up at about 0.5% to join Facebook in the NOT SOCIAL MEDIA realm.
So, I’m out. I’m gonna give it a rest. I’m putting a restriction on Facebook for continuing to put profit over privacy. And most importantly, profit over social connection.
It’s almost go time.
