Want Your BLUE iTunes Icon Back? (Yosemite OS X Fix)
BREAKING 7-5-15: SORRY APPLE, the NEW (Apple Music colored) Icon sucks too. I’m staying with blue, but here’s how to get the new one if you used my Blueing technique earlier.
Want your new iTunes Icon – the rainbow Apple Music color, back? Even if you’ve changed it to blue you can get it back.
Here’s how: Locate the application on your desktop. Get Info (command-I) on the app. Unlock the app by clicking on the small padlock at the bottom and authorizing the change. Click once on the small logo/icon at the top of the window, selecting it. And hit DELETE. Viola! Magic. I like the new icon, I hated the red one. Take your pick.
+++ To get your blue iTunes icon back. (original post)
I’m pretty happy with the new operating system from Apple. (Yosemite Review – First Hour) But for some reason the garish red icon update for iTunes really grated on me. So I fixed it. Here’s how.
First attempt
Close, but I had a white bounding box.
Done.
Here’s how you do it.
Roll over the red (ugly) iTunes logo and hold down your mouse until you get the hover menu, go to Options > Show In Finder.
Then Get Info on the iTunes app. (command-I)
and make sure you unlock the app.
Click on the padlock and authorize the changes.
Download this icon itunes-blue-200.png
Double-click on the png file to open it in Preview.
Select All (command-a)
Copy (command-c)
Navigate back to the Get Info window (that should still be open)
Click once on the icon in the top left corner
Paste (command-v)
You may have to re-authorize again.
Close the Get Info window.
In a few seconds the icon will be fixed and shortly it will show up in it’s pre-Yosemite glory. BLUE.
It’s the fiddly bits sometimes that get me irritated. No more red iTunes logo.

I couldn’t figure out why this article kept trending on my blog. Then I Googled the issue. And I’m #3 after Apple. Okay, well done me.
The post that keeps on going and going. Here are my download stats for the icon. Nice. Go ahead, it’s legit.

Kudos!!! Got my beloved BLUE back! Red is one of my least favorite colors. The red was so annoying …it kept screaming at me! Also posted your likn to my FB page to assist your google ranking! Thanks …;)
